Colonial Encounters in Asia, Africa, and Oceania
Page 790 (1882)
There is a picture of a huge face of a white man with no body but several arms of an octopus reaching out to several islands. This picture represents how Britain was so greedy they had to be in control of several places to have power over several to make sure Britain is in control and other places can be aware of it and feel intimidated. In the picture it is perfectly clear that the octopus is grasping all the island except for one which is Egypt. This is because Britain had not colonize Egypt. This portrays the message that Britain had colonized a great number of countries and had the intention to keep colonizing.
